According to Captain America himself – Chris Evans – maybe not. Evans spoke to MTV briefly on this question but we’ll get to what Cap thinks in a few minutes. This question has been on a lot of fanboys and girls’ minds after the leaked promotional artwork for Captain America: Civil War showed up displaying the teams, as you can see:
We ALL know things can change though. Probably not. But maybe. So you have…
- Captain America
- Scarlet Witch
- Falcon w/ Redwing drone
- The Winter Soldier or “Bucky”
- Hawkeye
- Ant-Man
Against….
- Iron Man
- Black Widow
- Vision
- Black Panther
- Vision
- War Machine
The folks over at ComicBook.com had their own reasoning, siting key points like all the tech and power on Stark’s side and the lack of the same (kinda) on Rogers’ side. While that does have some merit, as mentioned a few lines ago….things can change. Everyone knows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk as semi-wild cards. And until we have the key confirmation from Marvel, nothing is set it in stone. When MTV mentioned to Chris Evans at a junket that it seemed that his team “seems out of their depth”, he had this to say:
“Do we?” Evans said pointedly, before mysteriously adding, “Well, maybe you’ll have to see the movie to find out.”
On his key team members: “Mackie and Seb………..I’ll be in a foxhole with those two guys any day.”
So who’s right and who’s wrong? If you’re a fan of the comic book storyline then you have inside knowledge of how things went on that front. But we know Marvel doesn’t shy away from making changes where they deem necessary. We’ll find when next year when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th, 2016!
