Attention Marvel: Terry Crews Is Talking to You

A while back when all the casting talk was going on for Marvel / Netflix’s series Luke Cage, muscle-ly funny man Terry Crews‘ name popped up. We thought this was PERFECT! We’re huge fans of Crews and figured he’d be ringer. Filling the shoes – and shirt – of the nearly invincible Cage would’ve been a task the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor could’ve tackled perfectly in our opinion. Fans were delightfully vocal (in a good way) about the idea as well.

Now….

Well that casting notion has vanished since the role went to actor Mike Colter (The Good Wife) but that hasn’t stopped fans – and more importantly Crews – from wanting a superhero role. Crews recently did an AMA on Reddit where displayed active admiration and wish for not only wanting to still play a superhero….but more specifically a desire to play the Silver Surfer! While there hasn’t been any indication that another villain besides Doom would be in the new FF reboot, there have been murmurings in the past about giving the Surfer his own film.

Crews’ response to a user who asks what superhero he’d like to play:

…it’s hard to pick a favorite superhero. I always did love Luke Cage, and I’m really, really happy about who they cast in the Netflix version of Luke Cage. So that’s something that’s already done. But you know who else I’d like to play? The Silver Surfer. I always LOVED – I thought I had the build, the body, I could get on that surfboard, and if they ever do a live-action version of Silver Surfer, I think that would be perfect for me.

The shiny hero of the cosmos has previously been on the big screen before through the use of special effects in 2007’s Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. At that time he voiced by another favorite actor of ours, Laurence Fishburne who gave the character life and great tone. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that Marvel at least considers the loveable big guy.
