Funko Universe Month – Variant Comic Book Covers

Funko comic book covers are nothing new to the Funko Funatics who have subscribed to Marvel Collector Corps, Legion of Collectors and Smuggler’s bounty. Unforunately, apart from those exclusives, there haven’t been Funko variant covers available at local comic book shops. Thanks to Funko & a few comic book companies, that’s about to change.

Announced at ComicsPRO last week, May will be Funko Universe Month at IDW. Comics like Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The X-Files, Strawberry Shortcake and Judge Dredd will also be available in Funko-ized variant covers. And based on a little research we’ve done, it looks like Dynamite Entertainment will be in on the fun as well, with a Red Sonja Funko Variant Cover.

Will that be all? Are other comic book companies going to be offering these Funko Variant covers as well? We’ll keep looking and report back if/when we find anything.

PRE-ORDER YOUR FUNKO VARIANT COVERS

Now the real struggle…. How to get your hands on these awesome covers. Sure, you could wait til they are released and HOPE you make it to your local comic book shop before the other Funatcs, but why stress out. You’ve got a couple options:

• Pre-order / Order online – Many retailers offer online pre-order options. We prefer TFAW, since they offer a 20% discount on pre-orders and an option to send the comics already bagged & boarded.
  ** Some of these comics have already started shipping and are currently available (designated CA below). The rest are still pre-order only.

• Pre-Order at your local comic book shop – While each store has their own policies & procedures, we’re guessing you can go in or call now and place a pre-order. But if you don’t live close to one or don’t want to get out in the elements, you can always go with Option 1.

Looks like Funko covers will also be coming for Powerpuff Girls, Dirk Gently, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories and Star Trek too. Stay tuned for more.
