The first trailer for director Rupert Sanders’ Ghost in the Shell has manifested online and has pretty much killed any lingering doubts fans may have had about how badass it would be. Scarlett Johansson plays the lead role as Major and lends her sultry voice to the trailer’s narration which adds Ki:Theory’s haunting new version of Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence in the background. From the trailer, first impressions are the heavy influence of films like Blade Runner and The Matrix – which is totally and completely fine with us! The stunning effects are also key elements you take away from the Ghost in the Shell trailer as they seem to really push the envelope here. Add that up with the feeling that Johansson is going to absolutely rock her role as Major and you get the feeling that this could be the beginning of a strong franchise.
