Independence Day – Funko Pop!

It’s been almost 20 years since the mega-blockbuster Independence Day landed in theaters.  A new sequel is on the way and premieres in June of this year, but let us not forget the original.  I LOVED the film and find myself watching it every couple of years.

Luckily, for us Funko Funatics, the resurgence (pun intended) of the ID franchise has everyone excited for more and we are getting exactly that.  Funko has revealed NEW Independence Day Pop! vinyl for the original film!

Pop! Movies: Independence Day

When an alien fleet launched an attack on Earth, the extraterrestrial beings had no idea what was in-store!
U.S. Marine Corps pilot Steve Hiller and the industrious David Levinson won’t go down without a fight!
Make sure to capture the Alien and track down the chase variant, too!

Alien Pop! Chase Variant

In addition to the three regular-issue figures being released for Independence Day, there will also be an Alien Pop! chase variant.

For those who aren’t familiar, Chase figures are randomly inserted into cases of figures delivered to retail stores and online retailers.  They are harder to find, sought after and often worth much more than the regular version of the same figure.  Every once in a while, you’ll get lucky enough to find a chase figure, often labeled with the special sticker.

We finally found an image of what the Alien Pop! Chase variant will look like (on the right).
