Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star Megan Fox will join the cast of New Girl in it’s fifth season. As the show’s original “new girl” will be out on maternity leave, the show will work in Fox’s character into a multi-episode arc. Entertainment Weekly gave some insight on how the transition will work for next year:
Several episodes into the season, Deschanel’s Jess will find herself on sequestered during jury duty (and will not appear in the show). During that period, Fox’s character will rent out Jess’ room. Fox plays “Reagan,” described as a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft.
Seems pretty seamless huh? An interesting side note is that it looks like the show’s EP has Fox in mind for the upcoming role:
It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it,” said executive producer Liz Meriwether. “I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.
It’s been a good while since Megan Fox has been on TV – ABC’s Hope & Faith being the last time she was a series regular, around a decade back. I never watched that show so I’m curious about her acting will differ, if any, when she’s on the small screen. Like EP Meriwether said, I actually did enjoy her small role in This is 40 and really didn’t mind her in Transformers either.
Look for Fox on Fox’s (that’s funny) New Girl in January in the sixth episode of the next season.
