Our first trip to E3 was packed with first looks and hands-on with some of the most highly anticipated games of 2017. Of course we were hyped for the “big names” of the show, like Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: World War II, but it was another title that really stole the spotlight – Super Mario Odyssey.
Super Mario Odyssey was first revealed at the big Nintendo Switch event back in January, but given very little screen time. We can’t speak for the rest of the gaming community, but the game didn’t really register on our radar and it certainly wasn’t on our must-have list for 2017.
SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY – E3
Nintendo’s booth at E3 2017 was almost entirely focused on Super Mario Odyssey, Sure, Arms, Splatoon 2 and a few other games were on display and fans were given the opportunity to play them, but 80% of their booth space was focused on the next big Super Mario title.

We waited our turn and took a seat at one of the New York City style park benches, where a new Nintendo Switch was loaded up with a demo of Super Mario Odyssey. There was little to no intro, but it’s not like this was our first gaming experience. We jumped right in.
The open world environment, the boomerang hat, the ability to “take over” other inhabitants of this new world….. Within the ten minutes of play time, I said “Wow!” at least 5 times. It was instantly clear that this was a game I wanted to play a LOT more!!
Super Mario Odyssey is not only on our must-have list now, it’s been pre-ordered!
Looks awesome. I thought the Yoshi game was intriguing as well. With Odyssey you get the N64 3d world type game, while Yoshi seems to be the old SNES side scroller reimagined..
Hopefully there’s a Switch in my future!
What a different take on the game. Looks goo.
