M. Night Shyamalan and Blake Crouch were at WonderCon on Saturday and gave the crowd a little tease for Wayward Pines‘ second season coming this Summer! Yes that’s right, we’re getting a second season of the futuristic story that had one hell of a twist.
A brief rundown of what Wayward Pines‘ season one:
The story takes place centuries after most of humanity has died off. The town was built as a sanctuary for humans by a man named David Pilcher, who kept the fate of civilization a secret in order to keep hope alive. In truth, most of humanity has devolved into mindless, bloodthirsty beasts.
And no, this is one story that does not involve zombies, which is a nice change of pace. I’ll admit that personally, I was on-board for season one as soon as I saw Shyamalan’s name attached. I do understand that the book’s author is pretty great but sadly I just hadn’t heard of him. If you like the “end of the world”-type story then you owe it to yourself to at least try the show out for a few episodes. Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, and Terrence Howard starred in the first season and were fan-freakin-tastic. The best thing about this show was the reveal which they said early on, would happen. More seasons were never promised so this is just icing on the cake for fans of the show.
The second season of Wayward Pines will add new names and bring back some familiar faces from the first season. Among the new additions will be Jason Patric and Djimon Hounsou! From the first season (and I’m very happy to hear this) is Carla Gugino! The story is said to take place roughly about three years later and in the wake of the events of the finale of the first season. I’m all in to see where this goes!
