It’s been two days since the full-length trailer for Agents of SHIELD hit the web (sorry this took so long) and I’ve already watched it too many times to count. Over 2 million YouTube views and counting means that I am not the only one excited about Marvel hitting the small screen and the return of Joss Whedon to television.
I’m sure that fans of Marvel’s feature films (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, etc.) are excited to see the story continue on with some new super heroes and the return of Agent Coulson (#CoulsonLives) but those are just a few of the many reasons I am excited about Agents of SHIELD.
Why Agents of SHIELD is Pure Awesomeness
Joss Whedon! – I could stop there, but not everyone knows how amazing this guy is. Take a minute to check out his IMDB page and you’ll be surprised at how much of his work you love. I can honestly say he was the first television director that I bothered to learn about and follow. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse …. Nobody does character development like Joss!
J. August Richards – In true Whedon fashion, there had to be an actor from one of his previous shows included in Agents of SHIELD. This go ’round, he has resurrected Charles Gunn (Angel) to play a major role in the show as ???. There is speculation of who his character might be, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Ming-Na Wen – In addition to Clark Gregg and J. August Richards, Marvel decided to add another TV veteran to the cast and I like what they were thinking. As a fan of ER and Stargate Universe, it’s great to see Ming-Na cast as Melinda May. I’m not sure if that is a character already established in the Marvel universe, but rest assured that if anyone is going to give a female lead the best possible part, it’s Joss Whedon.
Lola – We don’t really know anything about this very special Corvette yet, but it seems like Agent Coulson is a little overprotective of his car (#DontTouchLola). We’re betting there is a big reveal in the near future.
