Fall is a great time for video-game releases and 2017 is already looking to be another great year for gamers everywhere. In September and October, we can look forward to huge releases, like Forza 3, Destiny 2, Assassin’s Creed Origins and FIFA 18, but there’s something a bit different right in the middle of this gamer’s paradise lineup…. Cuphead!
WHAT IS CUPHEAD?
In the midst of all this gaming madness and the dozens, if not hundreds of trailers, that you’ve probably seen since E3, it’s easy to miss a unique game like Cuphead. We’re here to correct that.
Ladies and gentlemen… Boys and girls….
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil!
Some of the games that influenced our design choices are: Gunstar Heroes (Seven Force!), Contra III, Contra Hard Corps, Super Mario World, the Thunderforce series and Street Fighter III.
MORE ON CUPHEAD
The trailer doesn’t show a whole lot, but the art style alone has our interest level maxing out at 11. Here are some additional images that show off the amazing level of detail the developers have achieved.
Cuphead is available September 29th on XboxOne, Windows 10 & Steam (PC)
