There’s a few things that come to mind when you think of Seattle. Like……should I remember to take an umbrella? Or……where’s a good place to get coffee? However, if you’re cool, then you would never ask silly questions like that. Instead, you probably think of one the coolest things about that city – the Emerald City Comicon! That’s right my fellow Nerdites…..ECCC is finally upon us and happens this weekend!! Sully and I are bummed that we couldn’t make it this year but next year we’re going to try like crazy. It’s been on our radar for several years now, along with some other great cons but it gets hard to choose from con to con. Sadly, as this article was coming together the announcement came that all tickets for ECCC were completely gone. So if you didn’t get tickets, we totally feel your pain and we’re with ya. If you did, then good for you and we’ll take a tee shirt! Here’s a breakdown of some of the major points of the con and what you and I are trying soooooo hard for every year. Chin up my friend!

Convention Exclusives
ECCC never fails attendees and this year is no exception. Everything from exclusive comics to tee shirts to new Funko POP!s will be available to those that are there. We’re sure most of this if not all will sell out and all of these are yet even MORE reasons while Sully and I think this con will be top three of Cons we need to attend next year other than that big one in San Diego. Here’s a handful of what will be on tap:
- Funko DIY POP!s (male and female forms) – limited edition “Emerald Green” show variant – $15 – run of 300
- Emerald City Comicon partnered with WeLoveFine for an exclusive t-shirt line called ECCCxWLF – $25
- Here are just several of the ECCC exclusive comic book variants being offered to those attending:
The Walking Dead #1 ECCC Exclusive
B/W Show Variant – cover by Erik Larsen
Batman #29 ECCC
Exclusive Variant
– cover by Greg Capullo
Serenity: Leaves on the Wind #1
ECCC Exclusive Variant – cover by
Jenny Frison (limited to 1,000)
Adventure Time #25
ECCC Exclusive Variant
– cover by Ian McGinty (limited to 500)
Special Events
Along with trying to decide on what to buy on the huge exhibition floor, seeing your favorite celebrity or artist panel, or just stopping and admiring all the great cosplay action that goes on, ECCC will also be the place for other great “con exclusive” events like the Winter is Coming Gallery Show, ECCC Cinema Series, Sci-Fi Speed Dating, and the After Hours Costume Party!
So if you’re looking for a new con to put on your list of “Must Go To” then you should definately think about hitting up Emerald City! And for those of you going…..well……we’re jealous. I’ve said it before several other times, there’s a boat load of great cons to pick from and Sully and I are trying to narrow it down ourselves. Next Seattle will probably be in the top four of the cons we attend for sure. Don’t forget, you can always stay in touch with ECCC through their Facebook page and Twitter account. Maybe we’ll see ya there next year??!!
Really wish you guys were coming out for this, would love to meet you guys some day
Thanks Billy! We’d would have love to come out this year but we just couldn’t make it work. Hope you enjoyed it for us though!
