#NerdsUnite for Extra Life

Something very special is on the horizon and it’s time for us to officially reveal plans for our first big charity event.  November 7th – Steve, Sully and some close friends of Nerd Fu will be participating in Extra Life 2015, a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

We’ve wanted to participate in something like this since the day we started Nerd Fu and we are finally in a place where we can contribute our time and money to really make an impact.  Now, we call on you, our friends & family to help us make a difference by coming together as a community for this amazing event.

Here’s the deal! On November 7th, at 11:00am CST, we’re going to begin our 24-hour gaming session stream on Twitch.  We’ve got a team of about 8 guys and our team is the Fu Tang Clan!  We’ll play games, have some fun, give out some prizes, interact with people who are following along and (most importantly) raise some money for this awesome charity.

Our goal this year is $2,000 and we are well on our way, with donations already rolling in!

There aren’t any “rules” dictating what we do or how we participate, but we’ve decided to push for the full 24 hours and try to break things up with a variety of games that will make this fun for everyone.  We’ve pulled together a schedule of some of our favorite games, shown below.  And there is a GOOD chance we’ll go up against another Extra Life team for some friendly competition while playing Rocket League and Halo 5!

Extra Life - Game Schedule - Fu Tang Clan

Nerds Unite!!!  We need you, our friends and family, to help us out and we’ve come up with a few ways you can:

Donate – Any amount helps – $5, $10, $200.  Just do what you can.

Spread the Word – Share this now and, on the weekend of the event, share it again to make sure all of your friends & family know what we are doing

Follow – If you don’t already, please go follow Nerd Fu on Twitch and enable notifications, so you know when we stream

Interact – Help us make this event fun. Comment during the stream, tweet us, comment on our Facebook posts, etc.  #NerdsUnite

We know that it sometimes takes some “incentives” to get people involved.  We’re not judging.  We’ve been in touch with many of the companies that we’ve done work with in the past (and a few new ones) and some awesome prizes are on their way to the dojo now.   We also wanted to make sure that people could participate at any level.   Check out the options below to see how you can help the kids, whether you have money to donate or not.

  • Extra Life Giveaway – we’ve launched the Extra Life Giveaway so you can spread the word for chances to win a TUNZ bluetooth portable speaker from TYLT! No donation required.

  • Extra Life Prizes for Donations – donate anything ($5 and up) to earn entries. We’ve got great prizes from Funko, TYLT & some other great companies on the way!!

  • Prizes during the twitch stream – follow along on the stream during our Extra Life gaming marathon for your chance to win T-Shirts, Game Codes & more!

A BIG thank you to the companies that have already contributed or given us the green light on donations.  We’re very appreciative and will be sharing your names throughout Extra Life on November 7th, but why wait til then to tell everyone how awesome you are for supporting us.  Here are some of the companies that have already stepped up in a big way!

If you’re not on Twitch and don’t really feel like signing up, it’s OK.  Check back here and we’ll embed a live stream of the event on this page!
