The trend of high-end, collectible posters is growing and I couldn’t be happier. These beautiful works of art play right into two of my favorite nerd hobbies; movies and exclusive, hard-to-obtain collectibles. The best part of all this – they make amazing conversation pieces that can be displayed instead of tucked away in a box for safe keeping.
Recently, we shared the Pacific Rim Print Series that Odd City Entertainment released in conjunction with the opening of the film. Well, they’re back at it again, but the focus this time is Joel and Ethan Coen’s Academy Award winning movie Fargo.
THE ARTIST – GABZ
Grzegorz Domaradzki, the artist known as Gabz, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, Poland with a Masters Degree in Graphic Arts and Drawing. His creative process has evolved from a desire to make his work more broadly appealing and optimistic. Each piece he produces captivates and brings to the subject from which he drew inspiration, a unique illustrative story. For more information on this artist, visit iamgabz.com.
THE FARGO PRINT
Roman Morales, Odd City CEO and print connoisseur, discussed working with the artist Gabz on his print for this iconic and cult classic movie, “Fargo was the first piece Odd City had fully produced with Gabz. There were a lot of late nights and several weeks of back and forth to make sure this piece was perfect. The versions that had been considered and dismissed could fill a book. There were people with their heads chopped in half, outrageously brilliant colors, and even a landscape version. If there was a book on the prints that Gabz had produced to date, I have to believe there would be an entire chapter dedicated to Fargo alone. Gabz wanted nothing more than perfection. With the cooperation of the cast, the tools were all laid out in front of him. All he had to do was let his imagination run wild. I believe he nailed it.”
