Free Comic Book Day – First Saturday in May

What the what? Yeah, you read that title right – FREE Comic Book Day 2013 is coming!

This isn’t a scam, it isn’t spam, it’s a real thing! (sounds like Dr. Seuss).

Free Comic Book Day is a single day – the first Saturday in May each year – when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE* to anyone who comes into their stores. *Check with your local comic book shop for their participation and rules.

Apparently, Free Comic Book Day has been going on since 2002 and thousands of shops around the world participate.

Where: Your local comic book store (you can find participating stores using the tool on

What: It looks like there are dozens of comic books available, from some of the top writers in the industry. Here are a few that are sure to pique your interest (pictured below) or see the full list here:
