“Future” Looks Bright for the X-Men – SDCC 2013

Ohhhh Bryan Singer…..you little rascal you. With the days leading up to SDCC 2013, there was Twitter buzz flying around that Singer wouldn’t be able to attend. Or would he? The Nerd Fu boys found out pretty quickly that Hall H would be full of B-I-G surprises – like Sentinel big. 20th Century Fox pulled no punches on Saturday. After some quick words from Entertainment Weekly panel moderator Geoff Boucher, he asked for Bryan to go ahead and come on out. Needless to say that the sight of him made for a xtremely grateful audience because if the director was there then….

A Mutant Roll Call

After an exchange of words between moderator and director, one comment was all it took to ignite the audience’s cheers –

EW’s Geoff Boucher: “That’s a big a$$ table there!” (about the table with a large amount of mics on the stage with them)

And with that, Director Bryan Singer smiled and brought out his phenomenal, star-studded cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past — Omar Sy (Bishop), Ellen Page (Shadowcat)Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Halle Berry (Storm), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), James McAvoy (Young Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Young Magneto), Jennifer Lawerence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Peter Dinklage (Bolivar Trask), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver).

Pause for effect.

Cheers alone were not going to cut it. A standing ovation for one of the best and largest ensemble casts ever to be brought together was the only way for the Hall H crowd to show their appreciation. And appreciate it we most certainly did. After the crowd settled, the panel moderator went down the line of heroes and foes and had each one introduce their characters. Each mention of a cast member’s name elicited more cheering by the fans who by no doubt at this time were coming close to needing oxygen, us included! Fans were treated to a spectacular, never before seen trailer of the very, very promising film. Lots of action, a long haired and almost down-and-out looking McAvoy approaching Cerebro, Beast getting into the action, and a very commanding Peter Dinklage! Trust us, you are going to want to see this trailer upon it’s release! In the meantime, enjoy the buffet of eye candy that photo guru Sully caught while we were at the panel and feel free to share!

The X-Men send Wolverine to the past to change a major historical event that could globally impact man and mutant kind.
