RTX 2013 was held this past weekend in Austin, TX and NerdFu was there to cover the action. We already brought you our Saturday Rundown, but this was a three day event and we were back on Sunday. Here’s what we saw.
Rooster Teeth Filming
By the time we arrived on the scene Sunday, there was a massive line that started outside the Austin Convention Center and wrapped into the building as far as the eye could see. Rooster Teeth (the company behind Red vs Blue and the RTX convention) had teased a “live action shoot” and invited anyone to participate as an extra, as long as they were OK with getting wet. ????
As it turns out, the filming was to include a massive water balloon attack on the “Slow Mo” guys from Rooster Teeth. Each of the extras (thousands of them) were provided with water balloons and (when directed) chunked them at a couple of the guys (Gavin and Dan).
In addition to the photo below (and others we have on the way), we caught this great video and posted on Instagram for everyone to enjoy.
Red vs Blue Panel
We had to leave in the middle of the Rooster Teeth filming to make it over to the first big panel of the day, but it was worth it. The main ballroom, which held several thousand fans, was host to the Red vs Blue panel and we weren’t going to miss it.
Burnie Burns, the founder of Rooster Teeth, led an all-star cast of Red vs Blue voice actors and creators as they talked about the history of the show, answered questions from the audience and even gave us a sneak preview of Season 12 of Red vs Blue.
Other members of the panel included Miles Luna (writer/producer/director), Shannon McCormick (Washington), Joel Heyman (executive producer), Monty Oum (director of animation), Kathleen Zuelch (supervising producer) and Matt Hullum (CEO).
More photos from the panel can be found in our post RTX 2013 – Red vs Blue Panel [PHOTOS]
