Scary Movie Pop!’s – Review

There have been a lot of awesome Pop!’s based on movie characters (Ghostbusters, Rocky, Back to the Future), but until recently one genre of films was left untapped by our friends at Funko.  Fans were begging for some vinyl figures of their favorite horror movie stars and Funko listened, delivering some of the most iconic characters of all time.

We got our hands on several of these awesome Pop!’s (thanks to the folks at Entertainment Earth) and thought we’d put together a little review.  Spoiler: These figures, like pretty much every other Funko Pop! we’ve ever handled, are amazing!

ASH – ARMY OF DARKNESS – FUNKO POP!

“Bruce Campbell’s Ash has been given the Pop! Vinyl treatment with this Army of Darkness Ash Pop! Vinyl Figure! Ash looks true to form with his chainsaw arm and shotgun.”

As usual, the artists at Funko nailed the design.  The width of this Pop! is amazing, with the chainsaw arm stretched way out to his side.  A MUST HAVE for any Evil Dead / Army of Darkness fan!

DEADITE – ARMY OF DARKNESS – FUNKO POP!

“One of the evil creatures that attacks Ash in the cult comedy horror film Army of Darkness has been given the Pop! Vinyl treatment with this Army of Darkness Deadite Pop! Vinyl Figure! This deadite looks true to form with his shield, spear, and helmet with horns.”

Ash wasn’t the only star of Army of Darkness. Why not pick up his counterpart for the combo? The detail on the Deadite is perfect and the figure looks great sitting next to Ash.

CAPTAIN SPAULDING – HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES  – FUNKO POP!

“One of the more scary and eerily patriotic clowns in horror movie history has been given the Pop! Vinyl treatment with this House of 1000 Corpses Captain Spaulding Pop! Vinyl Figure! The vulgar gas station owner looks true to form in his patriotic clown costume and makeup.”

I love Rob Zombie’s music and his films are both scary and amazing.  That pretty much sums up Captain Spaulding too (minus the music part).  This little guy is equal parts creepy and perfect.  As with all the other Pop!’s in this series, the artist just nailed all the little details.  Just look at the photo!

PENNYWISE – IT  – FUNKO POP!

“The scariest clown in horror movie history has been given the Pop! Vinyl treatment with this Stephen King’s It Pennywise Clown Pop! Vinyl Figure! The demented killer clown looks true to form with his scary teeth, freaky eyebrows, and scary clown costume.”

I can’t even look directly at this thing.  It’s too scary.  I think the box for this one will be facing the wall at all times.  Ha!

SHARKNADO – SHARKNADO  – FUNKO POP!

“Up in the air! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s a shark! The Syfy channel’s outlandish television movie about Sharks and tornadoes can finally be had in Pop! Vinyl form! This Sharknado Pop! Vinyl figure features none other than a shark in a tornado!.”

Sure, this one might seem out of place, but have you seen this movie?  It is scary….. to think that it is so popular.  Why are bad horror/scary movies so good?? I can’t explain it, but I also can’t wait for Sharknado 2.  This is, BY FAR the heaviest Pop! I have ever held.  I guess it took a lot of plastic to make Sharknado.
