[UPDATE] 4.27.15
Yup. Konami killed Silent Hills. Here’s the word as they told it to Kotaku:
Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.
In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.
[ORIGINAL STORY]
Well…crap. Just when we were going to buy fresh underwear in anticipation of the new Silent Hills game, it goes…..well silent. I mean, we’re still going to buy new underwear but new underwear and a new Silent Hills game go hand-in-hand.
The new “scare the sh*t out of you” game was being developed by Hideo Kojima with large amount of input from sci-fi/fantasy guru Guillermo del Toro. Add a certain actor by the name of Norman Reedus to that mix and you had us all in. The teaser trailer above that was released a while back had pretty much sealed the bed-wetting-deal. However, looks like bad news is clouding up the Silent Hill sky. Whilst attending an event in San Francisco, del Toro reportedly dropped a bomb when he said that Silent Hills is not going to happen. Reporter Matt Hackney was there and tweeted out the following when del Toro broke the news:
“It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.” -Guillermo del Toro on #SilentHills. #sfff #sffs #sffilmfest #fb

As of this, moment, the game’s publisher Konami has not made any official announcement. Instead, they did make an update on the game’s website regarding the PS4’s “playable teaser” with this:
The distribution period of “P.T. (Playable Teaser)” on PlayStation®Store will expire on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
Even Daryl Norman Reedus delivered a fatal, sad blow to fans via Twitter:
Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it’ll come back around. Sorry everyone http://t.co/drZJ8tBsSN
