We love hearing about new collectibles. Add Star Wars to that statement and you really have our undivided attention. While taking a look around the web today I noticed several DIY toys with Star Wars as their theme. Now, we’re all familiar with the wide variety of plastic models out there but for me, I hadn’t seen anything like this until now. From a company called Fascinations (whose motto is: Wonders Created by Physicists), we happily share with you the R2-D2, AT-AT, Darth Vader Tie Fighter, and Millennium Falcon metal DIY kits! All four models are available for pre-order now from Entertainment Earth and are expected to ship out sometime in January 2014* for $11.99 each plus S/H. These would make excellent display pieces and at that price, it’d be fairly easy to get the whole set. Pliers are probably a must but we’re guessing you can leave the welding torch in the garage.
These amazingly detailed DIY models start as 4-inch square steel sheets and finish as amazing 3-D models. Use the easy-to-follow instructions included with the sheet to pop out the pieces, bend the tabs, and connect them at the attachment points!
