Lots of things are being said about the first teaser for the new Nickelodeon Movies picture ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ from producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman. I’ve heard people say things about how big their shells are……things like how weird the lovable heroes’ noses are. The nerve of Hollywood’s un-realistic looking mutated, turtles that know martial arts!
When I heard that the trailer was finally out, I somewhat cringed slightly myself. Being a true “Green Machine” fan from days of old, I had my fingers crossed in a positive respect. Long ago when news broke that Bay was going to try his hand at TMNT film, moans filled the interwebs pleading for him not to do it and/or not to do what he did with our favorite Autobots. Further agony was heard when rumors started to come in that he would make the boys aliens. Flash forward and Bay said pretty much that’s not what they had in mind and that he would still stick with the ooze origin.
Now we see a bit of what to expect with this new teaser. And I admit, I’m intrigued. Even though this trailer has a distinct Bay feel, I’m really liking the darker and grittier feel that Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans, Battle Los Angeles) is showing here. And while we do get the see a few of the boys in action, sadly there was mention that Vanilla Ice is returning. Now that……is a cause for agony.

I’m still a little wary. I think the new look is pretty good, way better than some of the cartoon redraws have been! I’m not sure Megan Fox is April O’Neil and I don’t know about the history of her dad being part of the reason the ooze exists. Totally going to see it when it comes out though.
